From São Gabriel da Cachoeira, the expedition departs by 4x4 vehicles, traveling approximately 80 kilometers through dense rainforest to reach a remote river pier. From there, access is exclusively by water. Traveling by high-speed motorized boats, the expedition pushes deeper into the forest, navigating a complex network of rivers that lead into Yanomami Indigenous Territory. This demanding and visually striking journey covers approximately 180 kilometers of raw river navigation, crossing multiple rivers and isolated waterways until reaching the Maturacá Channel, located entirely within tribal land and serving as the gateway to Pico da Neblina National Park.
Upon arrival, participants take part in a traditional Yanomami blessing ceremony, acknowledging the ascent of Pico da Neblina as a sacred journey. The ceremony marks the transition from exploration to pilgrimage, recognizing that the route leads ever deeper into untouched rainforest and spiritually significant land. Following the ceremony, the expedition continues by boat to reach the first base camp at the edge of the trekking route.

Arrival at Manaus International Airport (MAO) and transfer to the hotel for check-in. Manaus serves as the final major urban center before entering the remote Amazon region.
If you arrive early, we strongly recommend conducting a full cross-check of your expedition trekking gear. This is an important opportunity to confirm that no essential equipment is missing, as the following day you will depart for São Gabriel da Cachoeira, where options to purchase or replace technical trekking gear are extremely limited.
Overnight in Manaus.
Your flight to São Gabriel da Cachoeira is scheduled for the morning. Please note that remote regional flights are subject to weather conditions, particularly in this part of the Amazon. Our team will make every effort to secure the earliest possible departure to maximize operational flexibility.The flight duration is approximately one hour, and you will quickly arrive at São Gabriel da Cachoeira, the official starting point of the Pico da Neblina expedition.Upon arrival, the local operations team will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the pousada, passing through the city center en route. This will be your final opportunity to purchase any personal items or supplies that may be required for comfort during the expedition days ahead, as access to goods becomes extremely limited once the journey into the forest begins.
Overnight in São Gabriel da Cachoeira
After breakfast, you will visit the Instituto Socioambiental (ISA) for a comprehensive expedition briefing. This session covers the operational plan, safety procedures, environmental protocols, and cultural guidelines for traveling within protected areas and Yanomami Indigenous Territory.
The briefing also provides important context on the region, its biodiversity, and the role of indigenous partnerships in the Pico da Neblina expedition. This is a key orientation moment, ensuring all participants are fully prepared—logistically, culturally, and environmentally—before departing into the remote rainforest.
In the afternoon, enjoy a refreshing swim at the shores of the Rio Negro, a perfect opportunity to relax and acclimate to the Amazon environment. Later, return to the pousada for a final expedition gear check, ensuring all equipment is properly organized before departure into the forest.
The rest of the evening is at leisure, allowing time for rest and preparation.
Overnight in São Gabriel da Cachoeira.
After an early breakfast, the expedition officially departs São Gabriel da Cachoeira. Travel begins by 4x4 vehicles, covering approximately 80 kilometers through dense Amazon rainforest along remote dirt roads to reach a secluded river pier.
From this point, the journey continues exclusively by water. Boarding high-speed motorized boats, the expedition advances deeper into the forest, navigating an intricate system of rivers that lead into Yanomami Indigenous Territory. This is a long and immersive river day, totaling approximately 180 kilometers of raw navigation, passing through isolated waterways surrounded by untouched rainforest.
Upon arrival at the Maturacá Channel, the team is welcomed by the Yanomami community, where you will spend the night. This is a unique opportunity to experience traditional indigenous life and receive the community’s guidance for the journey ahead.

The day begins with a protection ritual conducted by the Yanomami, a sacred ceremony honoring the forest and the mountains ahead. This ritual marks the start of the spiritual and physical journey toward Pico da Neblina, recognizing the climb as a holy passage into untouched land.
After the ceremony, the expedition continues by boat along the river, navigating further into remote territory until reaching the starting point of the trekking route.
The first day of trekking covers approximately 8 kilometers through dense Amazon rainforest, navigating humid, muddy terrain and diverse vegetation. The hike culminates at Irokaeh Camp, where the team sets up camp, rests, and prepares for the next stage of the ascent.

After breakfast at Irokaeh Camp, the expedition begins the trek toward Gavião Camp, ascending from 110 to 430 meters above sea level through humid, tropical rainforest. The trail is challenging due to heat, humidity, and dense vegetation, making pacing and hydration essential.
Upon arrival at Gavião Camp in the afternoon, participants have time to relax and enjoy a refreshing soak in the creek, offering a well-deserved break after the morning’s trek. The remainder of the day is at leisure, allowing for rest, acclimatization, and preparation for the next stage of the expedition.

After breakfast at Gavião Camp, the expedition continues with a trek of approximately 6 hours through the Amazon rainforest toward Bebedouro Novo Camp. The terrain gradually increases in inclination, marking the transition from lowland rainforest toward higher elevations as the team approaches the cloud forest zone.
Upon arrival, participants set up camp and have leisure time to rest, relax, and enjoy a refreshing splash in the nearby river, allowing the body to recover and prepare for the next stage of the ascent.

Overnight at Bebedouro Novo Camp.
The day begins with packing up hammocks and enjoying a strong breakfast and coffee to fuel up for the most challenging stage of the trek. Today’s journey covers approximately 6 hours of trekking through dense rainforest, with steep and demanding terrain as the elevation rises toward 800 meters.
After a strenuous morning, the team reaches Laje Camp, situated at 1,600 meters above sea level. The effort is richly rewarded: from this camp, participants get their first glimpse of Yaripo, the name of Pico da Neblina in the local Yanomami language, rising majestically above the clouds.
This camp marks the transition into high-altitude cloud forest, preparing for the final stages of the ascent.

Overnight at Laje Camp.
After a hearty breakfast and coffee, the day begins with the first full view of Yaripo (Pico da Neblina), providing motivation for the challenging hours ahead.
The trek involves steep and demanding sections, navigating rugged terrain as the team ascends toward the base camp for the summit attempt. Elevation gradually rises to approximately 2,030 meters, where the base camp is established.
Camp conditions are basic and limited due to the high-altitude terrain, and participants should be prepared for a cold night in preparation for the following day’s ascent to Yaripo Peak. Despite the physical demands, the day offers unparalleled scenery and a profound sense of accomplishment as the team reaches this remote and pristine location.

Overnight at Base Camp.
The greatest day of the expedition has arrived. After leaving all non-essential luggage at Base Camp and taking only a light daypack, the ascent begins early in the morning.
The climb involves steep and technical sections, requiring the use of clamps and ropes over challenging terrain. Over approximately 4 kilometers of rigorous trekking and scrambling, the team steadily gains elevation through cloud forest and rocky slopes.
Finally, participants reach the summit of Pico da Neblina (2,995 m), the highest point in Brazil. From the top, breathtaking views unfold over the vast, untouched Amazon rainforest below, a reward for the physical and mental effort of the climb. Time is allocated for photos, rest, and celebration before beginning the descent back to Base Camp.

After a final view of Yaripo (Pico da Neblina), the descent begins. The first stage involves approximately 2 kilometers of steep downhill terrain to Base Velha, requiring careful footing and attention.
From Base Velha, the trek continues another 2 kilometers to Laje Camp, where a lunch break is served and participants can rest and recharge.
In the afternoon, the expedition continues descending through the cloud forest toward Bebedouro Novo Camp, completing a challenging day of steep trekking. Upon arrival, the team can rest, enjoy the surroundings, and prepare for the next stage of the return journey.

After breakfast at Bebedouro Novo Camp, the trek continues toward Irokaeh Camp, passing through Gavião Camp, where a rest break will be taken to hydrate and recover.
Upon arrival at Irokaeh Camp, participants enjoy a well-deserved lunch and a refreshing bath in the nearby creek, a perfect way to relax after the morning’s trek.
In the evening, a farewell ceremony with the Yanomami support team takes place. During this special moment, participants are given a name in the Yanomami language, symbolizing their connection to the land and their inclusion as honorary members of the community after the shared journey through their territory.

Overnight at Irokaeh Camp.
After breakfast at Irokaeh Camp, the final day of trekking begins. The trail follows the mountain edge in a gradual descent, leading down through the forest toward the river. Along the way, participants will enjoy the last views of the pristine rainforest and highland terrain.
At the river, boats await to transport the expedition team back to the Maturacá Community, where lunch and rest are provided. This marks the conclusion of the trekking portion of the expedition.
In the evening, the group settles at the Yaripo Project premises, a place to relax, reflect on the journey, and enjoy the final night in the heart of Yanomami territory.

After breakfast at the Yaripo Project premises, there will be some free time for participants who wish to acquire handcrafted souvenirs from the Yanomami community. Please note that the community only accepts cash payments, and purchasing these items is a meaningful way to support the community directly and sustain their traditional craftsmanship.
Following this, the expedition team farewells the Yanomami community and boards boats for the descent along the river back to São Gabriel da Cachoeira, where the group will check in at the pousada.
In the evening, a farewell dinner is held at the pousada to celebrate the accomplishment of the expedition with the entire group, sharing stories, highlights, and reflections on the journey through one of the most remote and untouched regions of the Amazon.

After breakfast at the pousada, it is time to say your final goodbyes and prepare for transfer to São Gabriel da Cachoeira Airport for the flight back to Manaus.
Upon arrival in Manaus, further arrangements—including airport transfer, hotel check-in, or connection to your international flight—will be coordinated according to your schedule, marking the conclusion of your Pico da Neblina expedition.
