A Journey Through Shanenawa Culture and the Amazon River
Through this 12-day journey across Brazil, travelers are invited into a profound cultural and natural immersion in the heart of the Amazon. The experience begins with an extended stay in the remote Shanenawa Community, where guests live alongside community members and are guided by the wisdom of the chiefs and elders. Participants will learn about traditional medicinal plants, ancestral healing practices, sacred rituals, ritual body painting, storytelling, and daily activities that reflect a way of life deeply rooted in harmony with the forest. This phase of the journey offers a rare and respectful opportunity to engage with Indigenous knowledge systems preserved through generations, fostering cultural exchange, learning, and mutual respect.
Daily life in the Shanenawa territory unfolds at a natural rhythm, allowing travelers to disconnect from modern distractions and reconnect with nature and community. Shared meals, participation in community activities, and moments of reflection create a meaningful bond between visitors and hosts, while emphasizing sustainability, respect for sacred spaces, and the preservation of cultural heritage.
The journey then continues to the Rio Negro region of the Amazon, where travelers are hosted in an immersive rainforest setting along one of the most iconic river systems in the world. Surrounded by pristine jungle and rich biodiversity, guests explore the rainforest through guided jungle treks, river excursions, and wildlife observation. Activities include sunrise and sunset experiences over the river, nocturnal forest walks, and hands-on natural workshops focused on local ecology, survival knowledge, and the medicinal and practical uses of native plants.
Throughout this second phase, the emphasis remains on conscious exploration and environmental awareness. Expert local guides share insights into the delicate ecosystems of the Amazon, its flora and fauna, and the importance of conservation efforts. The journey balances adventure and contemplation, offering moments of silence, learning, and awe within the vastness of the rainforest.
By the end of the 15 days, travelers depart with a deeper understanding of Indigenous cultures, the Amazon rainforest, and their own relationship with nature—carrying not only memories, but perspectives shaped by one of the most powerful and life-enriching environments on Earth.
